Not only can you have your morning fix in a guilt free, environmentally friendly coffee pod but your morning pick-me up is going to help pick up your local charity.

Each coffee pod and coffee purchase 10 cents or up to 14% of the spend will go to your nominated charity or Not-For-Profit.

Community Pod is a social enterprise that will be giving a percentage of their coffee sales to a charity that the consumer nominates on purchase. The pods are going to be the first commercial bio-degradable pods that will disintegrate in 90 days. The greatest criticism of pod coffee is the effect that it having on the planet.

The brainchild of local businessman Mark Grogan and his fiancé Megan Watson the venture has intentions to roll out nationally very quickly. The use of the social media hashtag #IGiveAShot will be a movement that people can get behind to support their local charity.

Australia spends well over $3Bn a year on our morning obsession and that is just what we buy at the coffee shops. Our coffee intake could be triple in product what we take home and have at work. In 2013 1.1 million Australians said they would rather go without their mobile phone for the day than miss their morning pick me-up. What if we could start doing some good with this kind of passion we have for our coffee?

Ros Worthington the 2015 West Australian of the Year has got behind this as she only knows to well the efforts and energy required to raise crucial funds for the NFP sector. The launch on Wednesday the 1st of June is going to be held at BankWest. In attendance will be business leaders, charities and coffee lovers from all over Perth.

The coffee is available for home and office use and is adaptable to all Nespresso style coffee machines. Beans will be available for commercial use also in coffee shops.
