After commencing work in late 2020, the brand-new METRONET Bayswater Station — one of the biggest outside the CBD — is now officially complete.

The station has transformed the Bayswater town centre and will become the meeting point for three separate train lines. It’s already servicing the Midland and Airport Lines, with Morley-Ellenbrook Line trains on track to commence services later this year.

The elevated station includes four platforms, as well as a new bus interchange, a car park, bike parking, and 10 new retail spaces around the base of the station. The first businesses are scheduled to move in later this year and expressions of interest are still open for the remaining retail spaces.

The landscaping around the METRONET Bayswater Station includes more than 170 trees and 16,000 plants and shrubs in 4,300 square metres of new garden beds. There are also a number of public art pieces being finalised and set to be installed around the station over the coming months — including a piece made with a section of the old Bayswater Bridge.

“The Bayswater town centre is completely unrecognisable to what it was before, with an elevated four-platform station replacing what was effectively a shed at the old station,” WA Transport Minister, Rita Saffioti said.

“There have been a lot of big milestones along the way, none more so than the demolition of the old Bayswater Bridge, which garnered a huge amount of community attention.”

“We are now in the process of undertaking landscaping and installation of public art pieces, and one of those pieces will include a segment of the old bridge.”

“Later this year we will see the station reach its full-service capacity when Morley-Ellenbrook Line trains commence — making it the busiest station outside of the CBD.”
