Motorbike surfing, it’s a real thing – #DCPipeDream video goes viral.

In an epic piece of content marketing, DC Shoes and Australian stunt bike rider Robbie Maddison have done something that looks completely insane.

In the video released on Youtube Sunday August 2 2015, Robbie takes to the waves at Tahiti Video – #DCPipeDream “Robbie Maddison Pipe Dream” in Tahiti in April 2015.

“I don’t think the photos or video show how physical it was,” Maddison told Surfer magazine.

“Honestly, I really thought that getting the right wave would have been easier. “I don’t think the photos or video show how physical it was,” Robbie said.

“You can’t see that when the wave broke right behind me, I honestly thought that might be the end of my life. I’ve never felt like I was in the wrong place at the wrong time more than I did right there.”

“It was a near-death experience. At the end of the day, the images and footage say something pretty awesome, but the ferocity and how gnarly that thing was can’t really be put into words.”

Robbie said it was a struggle for survival when the bike fell on him in the waves.

“When I went down, the bike hit me in the back and knocked the wind out of me,” Maddison told Motocross Transworld.

“Then I was sucked under and tumbled around beneath the waves. Wave after wave pounded me, and each time, just as I was about to take in a big breath of saltwater, I’d pop up for just a second to grab a breath of air.”

Sweet Dreams kidz!!! Believe. #dcpipedream
