Locals rejoice – The Basso is back and ready to sling out cold drinks with a whole new look after a mega $7 million renovation.
It will open its doors to the public next week on Wednesday, September 21 after two long years of behind-the-scenes work.
The new and improved cornerstone local will be showing off the addition of new family friendly
courtyards, a playground and beer garden, a state-of-the-art sports bar, cosy ‘snugs’ for
intimate drinks, as well as an expansive balcony overlooking the town. But don’t worry, it will still maintain much of the original and beloved architecture and feel!
What you can expect
Let’s break it down.
The two-story venue will now feature six bars, two kitchens, and nine signature zones paying tribute to the history of the pub and its owners.
On the food front, the kitchen will be revamping its menu to serve up all the pub favourites, vegetarian/vegan options, and signature dishes such as an Old School Berkshire pork chop, grazing platters of locally sourced produce and a classic fish & chips beer battered in the Bassendean brewed Nail Ale.
The Saloon Bar will cater to those after-work beers and social catch-ups lined with historical imagery from the community, while the stunning courtyard section will serve as a family-friendly space to soak up the sun and overlook Old Perth Road.
Loud sports fans can get rowdy in Connolly’s Sports Bar and beer garden jam-packed with memorabilia and tributes from your favourite sporting teams, then head to The Club Room lounge tucked away on ground level for a few casual pints with mates.
Daphne’s Snug will pay tribute to women’s roles in Aussie pubs, boasting a very intimate cosy corner that is reminiscent of the confined smaller rooms and snugs women were confined to at bars until 1965.
To top it all off, Gallagher’s Speakeasy will add a whole new layer to the pub. Found on the second level, guests can discover bespoke Gin & Tonica featuring native botanicals and iconic cocktail classics in a prohibition-style atmosphere.
