If you are looking for the best small bar in Perth we have a winner.

Perth’s Best Small Bar winner has been announced as Perth’s own Prince of Flesh, Vince Garreffa, hosted the 2019 Small Bar Awards.

Braving the cold and rain, owners and staff from as far as Bunbury and Margaret River enjoyed sliders and snacks from a menu created by The Standard’s Chase Weber paired with local beers, wines and cocktails, including the aptly named ‘Dark and Stormy’.

Amongst cheers and applause, Mr Carey acknowledged the importance of relying on industry associations such as the SBAWA to force necessary change and reduce some of the obstacles faced by those in the small bar scene, such as parking costs and tourism.

The Member for Perth acknowledged times were tough but promised a brighter future was on the cards.

Wesley Eate, President of the Small Bar Association of WA, said “Congratulations to all the bars that have been honoured at the 2019 Small Bar Awards. It was our privilege to host WA’s top bars and we were especially thrilled to see so many owners, staff and SBAWA members in attendance, a testament to the close-knit community we enjoy here in WA.”

Jungle Bird (Fremantle)

The people in the know have once again awarded the Best Small Bar in Perth award to Varnish on King. This is the second time that Varnish on King has taken out the top prize.

And it’s no wonder – tucked in the basement of a heritage building right in the heart of Perth, Varnish on King pays homage to American Whiskey and is home to Perth’s most extensive showcase of bourbons, ryes, Canadian and Tennessee whiskey.
