A trail of sweets in the Swan Valley.
Hot on the heels of the Swan Valley Cider and Ale trail, here’s another way to enjoy a day out in one of WA’s famous wine regions – the Swan Valley Sweet Temptations Trail.
This new trail features eight destinations covering everything from wine to dessert, and places to rest in the middle of it all.
House of Honey
The first stop on the trail is The House of Honey on Great Northern Highway. Popular with tourists and locals, the House of Honey specialises in raw, pure, unpasteurised honey with many different varieties to try.
If you think all honey tastes the same, think again…
Make sure you try the mead (honey wine) which is available for tasting and purchase.
Of course there are plenty of honey and honey-based products and gifts to purchase, from candles to beauty products.
The in-house Sticky Spoon Cafe serves Devonshire Teas and honey ice cream.
Swan Valley Cafe
Since opening n 2010, the Swan Valley Cafe has become well known for its fully vegetarian menu, with all food made from scratch without preservatives, additives or colourings.
Open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, its picturesque gardens are a great place to stop and enjoy a bite to eat.
Offering vegan, raw and dairy free options, the entire menu is gluten free.
Olive Farm Wines
Olive Farm Wines is the oldest established WA winery, dating back to 1829.
Fortified and dessert wines are a specialty, although it has produced other table wines since the 1970’s.
Olive Farm Wines has a large tasting area so you won’t go away thirsty. The winery shares a space with another one of the Swan Valley’s great food attractions, the Cheese Barrel.
Maali Bridge Park
Maali Bridge is a pedestrian and cycle bridge that connects West Swan Road and Great Northern Highway. The surrounding park is also a great spot to escape from your busy day in the Swan Valley.
Located just past Sitella Winery, Maali Bridge Park offers picnic tables, park benches and a play area for children.
Mondo Nougat
The next two destinations on the trail are conveniently located in the same building, starting with Mondo Nougat.
Family owned, Mondo Nougat is made using a traditional Southern Italian recipe.
As you would expect there is plenty of nougat to try and buy, whether you’re a fan of soft or hard varieties (or both!)
The on-site cafe offers coffee, hot chocolates and desserts including the famous Mondo Nougat cheesecake.
Morish Nuts
A firm favourite at Perth markets and festivals, Morish Nuts offers a range of products sure to satisfy any sweet tooth (and plenty of savoury ones).
Another great example of a WA family-owned business, Morish Nuts have been created for over 20 years using a traditional recipe.
Treat yourself, or take home a gift pack for the family.
Products range from traditional caramel coated nuts and peanut brittle to more exotic chilli coated and other hot & spicy varieties.
Maison Saint-Honore
Maison Saint-Honore has long been regarded as producing Perth’s best macarons, and there were many excited customers when their Swan Valley site opened in 2016.
As well as a wide range of sweet treats, the in-house cafe offers a selection of French-inspired breakfast and lunch dishes from crepes to sandwiches.
Pinelli Estate Wines
A family winery with an Italian heritage, Pinelli Estate Wines was established in 1980 and now produces around 150,000 litres of wine every year.
Pinelli wines are available only from the cellar door or by ordering online.
Open 7 days a week for tasting, this is a must-visit on any trip to the Swan Valley.
Fillaudeau’s Cafe Restaurant is located on the same site, open for lunch from 11:30am Thursday to Monday, and dinner from 5:30pm Thursday to Saturday.
