After a noticeable absence, the Southern Forests’ premier truffle festival, Truffle Kerfuffle, will once again be warming up your winter.

From the 23rd – 25th of June 2023, the population of Manjimup will swell as out-of-towners converge on the tiny timber town to gorge on all things fungi.

As always, the festival will be kicking off with a candle-lit, truffle-laden long table feast, imagined and plated up by the year’s featured celebrity chef. It’s the perfect opener for a weekend of cooking masterclasses, wine sessions, and truffle dog demonstrations at and around Fonty’s Pool.

“This event not only highlights the world-class nature of Manjimup’s own truffles but also brings thousands of visitors to the region and provides a fantastic base to explore Australia’s South West,” says Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism, Roger Cook.

Manjimup is the heart of the truffle trade not only in Western Australia but in Australia, too, producing around 85% of the country’s Perigord truffle. The top-quality product is highly sought after, fetching up to $3,000 per kilo at its best.

“The Southern Forests region’s soils and climate, and its successful and hard-working truffle growers, produce first-class truffles,” says Sophie Zalokar, a Southern Forests-based chef and food writer. “A truly unique gastronomic treasure and the highlight of feasting during the winter season in Western Australia.”

The full chef lineup, schedule, and on-sale dates for Truffle Kerfuffle 2023 are yet to be announced.
