‘All Shook Up’ is a classic tale of young love and forbidden romance, drawing inspiration from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Set in 1955 America, in a small Midwestern town, the story unfolds when the charismatic and good-looking Chad, a guitar-toting roustabout with blue suede shoes, rides into town on his motorcycle. His arrival ignites a frenzy of excitement and transformation as the conservative town, ruled by a repressive Mayor, begins to awaken from its slumber.

Under Chad’s influence, the town’s residents embark on a night of outlandish pursuits, where lovers meet, woo, and pursue their passions against all odds. With three weddings but no funerals, this unforgettable night changes the lives of the townspeople forever.

The production showcases the incredible talent of some of Australia’s most accomplished performers, including WAAPA alumni, Mia Simonette, who takes on the role of Natalie Haller. Simonette recently wowed audiences with her performance in The West Australian Opera’s acclaimed 2023 season of ‘Into the Woods’.

Directing the talented cast of ‘All Shook Up’ is Vincent Hooper, another WAAPA alumni renowned for his powerhouse vocals and captivating character portrayals in major musicals across the country. Hooper’s extensive experience as a producer and director adds depth and creativity to the production.

Playing the role of Sylvia is Paula Parore, known as the Queen of Soul in Perth. With her exceptional vocal abilities and natural gift for captivating audiences, Paula has gained recognition through her appearances on The Voice Australia in 2012 and 2015.

The role of Jim Haller is taken on by Brendan Hanson, one of Perth’s theatre stars and a beloved figure on the stage. Hanson’s impressive credits include performances in Cameron Mackintosh’s Les Misérables, Grease for Gordon Frost, and Singin’ in the Rain for David Atkins.

‘All Shook Up’ is a celebration of the music of Elvis Presley, featuring eternal favourites such as “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Love Me Tender.” You can expect an electrifying soundtrack that will have you tapping your feet and singing along throughout the show.
