Start the week with guaranteed laughs from Jimmy Carr and Russell Peters before celebrating different cultures at the City of Rockingham’s Multicultural Festival and the colourful Holi Festival. End it by enjoying some mouthwatering crab at the Mandurah Crab Fest or cheering on the West Coast Fever as they look to become back-to-back champions.

Here’s what’s on this week in Perth:

Monday, March 13th

Jimmy Carr

Known for his deadpan delivery of one-liners, British-Irish comedian, presenter, actor, and writer Jimmy Carr kicks off the week with some laughs. He’s funny and politically incorrect, speaking candidly about slightly uncomfortable things in his new show, ‘Terribly Funny’.

Tuesday, March 14th

Russell Peters

After building his new act across the United States, Canadian funnyman Russell Peters heads to RAC Arena for his take on cancel culture, ageing, and the current state of the world. Laugh your way through his stories of growing up in an Anglo-Indian family and observational comedy highlighting racial, ethnic, cultural, and class stereotypes.

Friday, March 17th

Multicultural Festival

As part of the City of Rockingham’s 2023 Summer Series, ANZAC Park will become a hub of activity for the Multicultural Festival. With over 30 food vendors, take your pick from Japanese, French, Moroccan, Dutch, Philippine, and Tibetan cuisines while watching stage performances highlighting Aboriginal Nyoongar culture.

Practise your salsa, rumba, and merengue dancing with live Latin music, watch traditional Irish and Indian dancing, listen to a German brass band, and see Chinese calligraphy in action — perhaps even give the intricate lines a go yourself.

St Patrick’s Day Boat Party

Commemorate the foremost patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick, on the water at the St Patrick’s Day Boat Party. Dance away to house and techno tunes by DJs Mickey Snips, Bruno, Steve Godwin, and GirlLondon as you cruise the Swan River at sunset.

Bottled water, ice, eskies, and food platters will be provided on the boat, but alcoholic beverages are all BYO. Dressing patriotically in the colours of the Irish flag — green, white, or orange — is encouraged.

Saturday, March 18th

Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest

Celebrate the best of Mandurah and the Peel region at the Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest over the weekend.

The festival is a foodie’s dream, with cooking demonstrations from event ambassador ‘Fast Ed’ Halmagyi and celebrity chef Paul West and plenty of fresh seafood to try. A trip to Crab the Fest wouldn’t be complete without getting your hands on some Blue Manna Crab — perfect on its own as a part of a crab boil for a southern twist.

The Seaside Estate Music Stage will host some of the best national and regional musical talents, with Vanessa Amorosi, Gretta Ray, and Electric Fields to headline. The full program for the two days can be found here.

West Coast Fever vs Melbourne Vixens

2022 Suncorp Super Netball premiers, the West Coast Fever, are looking to defend their title when their season begins this Saturday. They’ll be facing off against the Melbourne Vixens at RAC Arena at 4.00pm. The last time these two faced each other was in the grand final, where Fever won by 11 — securing their maiden premiership win.

RTRFM Neon Picnic 2023

Grab the picnic rug and bask in some of Perth’s best local music at Hyde Park Amphitheatre for RTRFM’s Neon Picnic. All of the station’s favourites will be there, including Steve Hensby, Nika Mo, Joan and the Giants, and more.

Keep the kids entertained with arts and crafts supported by Red Fox Property Group and Lego building with the WA Brick Society. And, for the parents, there’s drinks from Otherside, Vino Volta, or Roleystone Brewing Company. If you don’t bring a picnic, grab a bite from Wally’s Tacos or Con Pebre, and remember to leave room for an ice cream from La Paleta.

Sunday, March 19th

Holi 2023 Festival of Colours

Vibrant colours, water guns, rides, and food will grace Wellington Square at the Holi 2023 Festival of Colours. Honoured across India, Holi — also known as the Festival of Colours — celebrates the eternal and divine love of the Gods Radha and Krishna. The ritual starts the day before with the lighting of the bonfire, symbolising the triumph of good over evil.

Bring a picnic down or tuck into what the food stalls’ are serving — crispy biriyani, dal makhani (a creamy, buttery lentil), or the country’s ultimate comfort food, a spicy vindaloo. Afterwards, you’re going to want a creamy lassi.
