“I know cats and dogs aren’t traditionally best mates but greyhounds get along with everyone, even this Wildcat,” Damian Martin said.

“Greyhounds are quirky characters with big personalities and they’re wonderful entertainers, winning fans everywhere they go. I’m a bit jealous, actually.”

Throughout April, Damian Martin will be catching up with adopted greyhounds and their families, sharing their insights about greyhound adoption.

About Greyhound Adoption Month

There’s no better time to start meeting potential adoptees than this April — Greyhound Adoption Month. During this time, Greyhounds as Pets WA is raising awareness of its rehoming program, post-race-retirement. All adoption fees during the month have been reduced to just $75.00 from $200.00. It’s a small price to pay to find your new best friend and give a greyhound a happy forever home.

There are two ways that you can go about adoption:

  1. Fostering to adopt — which involves introducing a behaviour-tested greyhound into your home and gently easing it into its new life. If you’re a good match for each other, you can then welcome it into your family on a permanent basis.
  2. Straight adoption — dogs who’ve been through the fostering process are available for a straight adoption and adoption to regional homes.

Greyhounds are matched to their new homes based on their individual needs to ensure it’s the perfect fit for both the greyhound and its new family.
