It’s almost time – Thomas Dambo’s highly anticipated giant sculptures trail in Mandurah is fast approaching.

The Giants of Mandurah exhibition by the world-renowned Danish artist is landing in the Peel region on the 12th of November, featuring at least five site-specific works with each creature made from recycled materials reaching up to five metres tall and placed in secret locations waiting to be discovered.

Why are the giant sculptures a big deal

Dambo’s wooden sculptures have been a source of fascination and awe worldwide over the years, popping up in Denmark, Chile, China, France, Germany, South Korea, and the United States of America. For his Peel region installation, the help of locals has been enlisted to help with the creation of the sculptures, giving each their own personality as they tell the story of the Mandurah area intertwined with the creation story as shared by the region’s Traditional Owners, the Bindjareb people.

But wait! Before you go racing off on your epic art-filled adventure, there are a few important tidbits and tips from FORM that will help you prepare:

How long will the Giants of Mandurah be on display?

There is no need to rush – Giants of Mandurah is going to be on display for at least 12 months, so don’t panic if you can’t get down straight away.

This is designed to be a game where visitors must find the hidden giants, so it’s been recommended that you should hunt them down and visit over a few days due to the geographical spread of their locations.

And when you do find them – don’t ruin the game for others by sharing their location online, because where’s the fun in that?

Helpful tip

Your journey will start at the Mandurah Visitor Centre, and from there it’s choosing your own path. Some trails may be more accessible than others, and some might have special requirements to know about like making sure you’ve got a good water supply.

The entire website is anticipated to launch on 9 November 2022, so subscribe to get your hands on the trusty Traveller’s Companion guide as soon as it comes out.

Don’t stop at the giants – go explore!
