After the wildly successful ‘Highway to Hell’ procession along Canning Highway in 2020, Tourism WA and Perth Festival have joined forces to bring the leading man’s rock’n’roll spirit back to Fremantle.

What you can expect at High Voltage Fremantle 2023

On Sunday, 7th May, the port city will be pounding with the sound of bass as a convoy of artists and performers loop through on roving stages. The one-day ‘High Voltage’ celebration follows a slightly different format to ‘Highway to Hell’, ditching the linear route for one that creates a larger festival atmosphere.

Key locations — like Fremantle Oval and South Beach — will also transform into buzzing music zones. Hop between them to catch your favourite bands busting out their own renditions of ‘Back in Black’ and ‘Thunderstruck’ on the main stage, or call into smaller live music venues on the roster for a more intimate experience.

“’Highway to Hell’ was a dynamite event in 2020 and was successful in attracting people from overseas, interstate, and, of course, thousands of Western Australians,” says Premier Mark McGowan. “We know large-scale tourism events are a massive attraction for visitors and locals who, together, are big contributors to local businesses, giving an injection into the local economy and supporting jobs. We asked for a proudly Western Australian event and, through Tourism WA, we have partnered with Perth Festival who are the experts in curating bespoke big bang events.”
