Western Australia’s Miss World Australia Finalists Announced.

The quest to find WA’s representative for the Miss World Australia pageant is complete, with this year’s State Finalists unveiled to the media today at Crown Perth, presenting partner of Miss World Australia 2015.

34 young ladies will compete for the State title of Miss World Australia over the next two months, with the winner being crowned at the State Final gala dinner on Sunday, 2nd August at Crown Perth. The finalists represent diverse backgrounds and cultures and hold a wide range of skills and qualifications.

Some of the finalists were on hand at Crown Perth for the launch event.

Elissa Kettlewell, Ashleigh Shackleton, Kate Bryant, former Miss World Australia Donna Summers, Nyima McNamara, Rahdee Hegney and Tahlia Borrett were on hand.

In the lead up to the crowning, the entrants will participate in a series of workshops, events, Miss World Australia appearances and media interviews. As part of the competition, the contestants will also fund raise independently for the event’s chosen charity – Variety WA – in their local communities. The girls will be judged on their fundraising efforts and achievements, multimedia, health & fitness, talent and modelling.

This year’s competition brings a strong focus on health, well being and fitness with the traditional swimwear round removed globally.

Event Coordinator, Margy Hegney Hall tells, “We are excited to bring this new direction with the girls, and believe it sends a positive message to the public about the pageant’s values. Miss World Australia appeals to the modern young viewer while continuing to embrace the dedicated fan of years past.

“Excitingly the National Final of Miss World Australia will be held at Crown Perth in Western Australia for the first time at the end of August. Therefore it is more important than ever to find the perfect representative of the final’s home State.”

Miss World Australia identifies young Australian women who exemplify beauty, talent, intelligence and compassion.

It aims to create new role models who through the pageant will serve as ambassadors to charity, enrich the perception of beauty and enhance a new strength, energy and spirit for the advancement of women while positively impacting their communities.

There is an opportunity for the public to meet this year’s state contestants at their official launch and fundraising event, which takes place on Saturday 13th June at Auto Classic in Victoria Park. All monies raised on the night will be donated to Variety Australia.
