This game! It had it all – including Cats Captain Damian Martin who returned early from another jaw surgery!

These nail-biter endings from the Wildcats are turning me into a nervous wreck!

The best defensive team in the league took on the best offensive team in the league when the Wildcats hosted the Adelaide 36ers in ‘The Jungle’ (Perth Arena) on Saturday night. These two teams have a fierce rivalry, the Cats having now won the last five contests.

screen-shot-2016-11-06-at-10-57-18-amAfter a roller coaster start to the season, Jaron Johnson shone in front of the Red Army and showed everyone what he is capable of. He finished the match with a MASSIVE block and 20 points. He nailed 6 three-pointers, one of those an EPIC half-court shot on the half time buzzer! See the magic below.

Jaron Johnson’s unbelievable half-court shot!

Now check out his incredible rejection!

Adelaide’s Jerome Randle is the leading scorer in the league and it was pretty obvious to see why. He was super impressive for the 36ers, and a challenge for the Wildcats, finishing on a huge 40 points for the game. He was definitely not a favourite amongst Wildcats fans however; there is no denying his lightening pace and incredible accuracy from outside the arc.

screen-shot-2016-11-06-at-10-57-30-amThe hearts of the Wildcats fans broke when skipper Damian Martin went down with a knee injury and had to leave the court in the third quarter, and took no further part in the game. My fingers and toes are crossed that it’s not a serious injury for Damo, the club are awaiting a medical report.

screen-shot-2016-11-06-at-10-59-02-amAfter not leading the match since early in the first quarter, the 36ers took the lead with 23 seconds left on the clock in the fourth! The Red Army were on their feet in the Arena, including myself. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest! Adelaide had the momentum yet the Wildcats stayed strong when it counted. Casey Prather sealed the deal for the Cats in the dying seconds with free throws, with the final score being Wildcats 106 defeating 36ers 103. What a game!

The Wildcats now get a week off, they will take on the NZ Breakers at Perth Arena on November 13 at 4:00pm (WST).
