Upcoming Fundraising Gala for Research into Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC)
Perth couple Chloe and Dean Strauch have launched a fundraising event for their organisation ‘Answers for Archer’ just 2-years after the sudden loss of their son.
The event to be held at Crown Perth this July, will raise support and funds for Answers for Archer – an organisation dedicated to SUDC support, research and prevention in Australia.
President of host organisation Answers for Archer, Chloe Strauch, said she hopes the gala will raise much-needed funds for research into the causes of SUDC and general awareness amongst the Australian public.
Chloe and Dean tragically and unexpectedly lost their young son Archer in July 2015. Archer passed away in his sleep aged just 14 months old. Eight months later it was concluded that there was no definitive reason for his death.
“To deal with the loss of your child and then to be told no one knows why is unbearable”, says Chloe.
According to Professor Henry F. Krous (M.D.) of the UC San Diego School of Medicine, ‘Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) is the sudden and unexpected death of a child over the age of 12 months, which remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation is conducted’.
Currently, there are no organisations in Australia equipped to fully support the parents, grandparents and guardians of children who die as a result of SUDC.
“Our goal at Answers For Archer is to raise much needed awareness about SUDC amongst the Australian public, guide Australian families to the correct support and to help fund research into SUDC at the New York Langome Medical Centre”, says Chloe.
Perth band FLYTE and Platinum DJs are confirmed to perform. More acts to be announced soon.
