“See it. Say it.” encourages people to use the City of Perth’s dedicated response service to report any issues or behaviours that impact safety within the city.

Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas commented that many people are unaware of the comprehensive safety measures in place within the City of Perth. The city boasts a cutting-edge surveillance centre equipped with nearly 700 cameras, staffed by a team of security experts, including members of the Western Australia Police, who monitor the city around the clock.

In addition to the surveillance centre, the City of Perth maintains a physical presence on the streets, deploying a dedicated team of rangers, cleaners, and mobile parking patrols who work hand in hand with the surveillance centre.

“If you witness something that makes you feel unsafe, call 9461 3333 to notify us. It could be antisocial behaviour, a request for a welfare check on someone you encountered, or even a spill that needs cleaning up,” Lord Mayor Zempilas explained.

He further emphasised that every individual has a role to play in maintaining the safety of the City of Perth. By reporting concerns or incidents promptly, residents and visitors can contribute to creating a safer environment for everyone.

The Lord Mayor added, “Your cooperation enables us to allocate our resources effectively and protect the well-being of all individuals within the city. Together, we can make the City of Perth an even better place to live, work, and play.”

Surprisingly, a recent survey revealed that 85% of respondents were unaware of the 24/7 phone number provided for reporting safety-related matters. To maximise the effectiveness of the service, the city aims to raise awareness and encourage more individuals to use the response service.

“The more people know about our 24/7 service, the more reports we can receive, leading to better outcomes,” said Lord Mayor Zempilas.

The City of Perth values its partnership with the Western Australia Police, who maintain a constant presence within the surveillance centre, ensuring a swift response to reported incidents.
