Premier Mark McGowan provides an update on WA’s response to coronavirus.

The latest coronavirus Perth update from Mark McGowan confirms WA recorded three new cases overnight, bringing the state’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases up to 544.

Of the 3 new cases include 2 people linked to the Artania cruise ship and an individual who returned to Perth from Bali.

In a blatant statement Mr McGowan didn’t hold back about his thoughts and opinion on those who travelled to Bali during the start of the coronavirus pandemic in Perth.

“We are doing everything we can to track down who he has been in contact with but I just want to reiterate, all of those people who went to Bali were selfish and jeopardised the health and wellbeing of other Western Australians.

WA COVID-19 Snapshot

  • There are currently 149 active COVID-19 cases in WA hospitals, of which six remain in ICU.
  • 221 cases are linked to cruise ships.
  • 388 people have recovered in WA from the disease
  • Over 26,000 people have tested negative for the disease in WA

When will restrictions be lifted?

When asked when will restrictions be lift, Mr McGowan reiterated that we can’t stop now, but within a couple of weeks perhaps we can re-look at specific restrictions.

Mr McGowan confirmed restrictions will be in placed for 6 months, one way or another. However, within this period changes could be made that provide the lowest health risk and greatest economic benefit.
