Are you a fitness fanatic who loves pushing yourself? Have you done Jacob’s Ladder dozens of times and are looking for a new challenge?

If so, head south of the river to Golden Bay when its own version, dubbed the Golden Bay Ladder, opens this Sunday, November 27th.

It features more than 100 steps and boasts 360-degree views of the coastal suburb’s gorgeous beaches, bushland, and community from the top. This is perfect for fitness enthusiasts and beach lovers.

The ladder forms part of the resident-voted parkland at Golden Bay Estate which heavily focuses on family and fitness. There are multiple walking trails and an all-abilities path in the area.

Another main characteristic of the estate is the new Treehouse Cove playground which features a nature-style playground, a treehouse play structure, seesaws, swings, and picnic and BBQ facilities.

The playground lies on the corner of Elvina Vista and Israelite Avenue.

Run for Fun

Coinciding with the opening of the ladder is a ‘Run for Fun’ community event with anyone aged seven and over able to participate in either a beginner, intermediate, or advanced run.

The 650-metre beginner course consists of one lap, the 2.6-kilometre intermediate track consists of four laps, and the 4.5-kilometre run consists of seven laps. Each route includes the ladder climb to really get the blood flowing.

The race begins at 10:30 am and as it’s free to register, you’ll need to secure a spot early to avoid missing out.

Each category has a separate start time with participants needing to arrive 30 minutes before the start to check in and pick up their race packs.

For a more casual Sunday arvo, there will be face painting, roving entertainment, live music, food trucks, as well as free coffee and ice cream. This is perfect for spectators and those wanting to wind down from the run.

The event will take place on Elvina Vista in Golden Bay.
