Concept design plans (as seen above) for the $25 million waterfront hotel at one of WA’s hottest tourist spots have just been revealed by Premier Mark McGowan, and it looks to sport big city lux.

The luxury Middleton Beach hotel in Albany by Seashells will sit at 8-storeys high with 66 rooms and is about to be the first hotel built on the site since the controversial Esplanade Hotel demolition in 2007. A 12-storey plan was originally proposed a few years back for the hotel, but was withdrawn following backlash from locals.

The ground floor of the facilities is planned to house food and beverage facilities for guests, residents, and visitors to enjoy, which is expected to drive tourism and create more local jobs.

“I’m excited to be here in Albany to celebrate the next phase in the development of this long-awaited prime waterfront hotel,” said McGowan. “The hotel will become the centrepiece of the wider Middleton Beach Activity Centre which has recently seen my Government contributing $3.5 million towards upgrading the foreshore.”

Works are anticipated to commence in 2023 with an expected opening date for the hotel in 2024, subject to development approval, however, there are concerns building and material shortages may delay its completion.

For now, watch this space.
