Latest Perth coronavirus update sees 2 new confirmed cases overnight and 1 death as a passenger from the Artania cruise ship has passed away.

WA has recorded it’s 8th COVID-19 death with a passenger from the Artania cruise ship passing away in hospital overnight. Health Minister Roger Cook also confirmed there have been two new cases of coronavirus recorded in WA.

The Artania cruise ship passenger who passed away was a man from Germany aged in his 70s, died at Sir Charles Gairdner hospital yesterday.

WA has now recorded 8 deaths due to coronavirus. In Australia, the death toll stands at 76 and there are 6600 confirmed cases.

Despite the continued low number of confirmed cases in WA, Health Minister Roger Cook pleads with the WA public to stay home unless essential activities is required and reiterating that we are not through this yet, that the virus will be with us for a long time.

Only once we get a vaccine will we have an exit strategy

Of the 2 new coronavirus cases confirmed overnight, 1 is male and 1 is female, aged between 25 and 61 and both are in the metropolitan area.

WA’s confirmed total is now at 548, of which the number of active cases in WA is 76 people.

Of these active cases, 20 are in hospital with 4 of them in intensive care.
