Are you ready for a Perth scorcher?

Perth will hit temperatures of 40C + this weekend, as a massive heat waves moves across Australia.

Sunday Perth is forecast to top 40C and Saturday 38C, with many parts of the city and regional WA set to exceed the tops.

Perth Heatwave: Here’s what WA surface temperatures will look like around 2pm Sunday afternoon.

The BOM spokesperson:

“Right now there’s just a lot of really hot air sitting over the continent and wherever the pattern moves, it shifts the heat. At the moment it’s not really going anywhere, that’s the problem,” Shane Hicks said.

“It’s also been very dry – so no weather and clouds to give that bit of relief. It just gets hotter and hotter … we haven’t really had anything to flush away the heat either – no rain bands, no tropical cyclones – so all that heat is just sitting there.

“Essentially all our warm areas are going to make their way down a surface trough along the coast of WA, and that’s going to pull all of that heat down to Perth,” he said.

The BOM said that the heat wave conditions in SE Australia are due to a hot airmass that has its origins in #WA.
