Perth has made a remarkable leap in the global liveability rankings, securing the 12th spot in the June 2023 survey conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). This significant advancement comes as a result of substantial improvements across various aspects of livability, positioning Perth as one of the most desirable cities to reside in worldwide.
The EIU’s extensive survey analysed 173 cities around the globe, evaluating critical factors such as stability, healthcare, culture, environment, education, and infrastructure. Although affordability was not included in the survey, the assessment focused on a wide range of elements that contribute to a city’s livability index. Each city was assigned an aggregate score out of 100, indicating its position in the rankings.
Perth’s jump in the rankings can be attributed to a combination of factors — most we know all too well. With our perthfect weather, beautiful beaches, easy access to the best wine region in the world (Margaret River), and so many holiday destinations on our doorstep, we’re actually surprised we didn’t make the #1 spot.
On the east coast, Melbourne and Sydney both made the top 10 at third and fourth places, respectively. Our cousins over in Auckland rounded off the top 10 sitting in tenth place.
