An historic first flight of Qantas Dreamliner – Flight Qantas QF9 – has finally landed in London after a massive 17-hour 2-minute flight from Perth, Flight Radar said.
The flight was packed with Journalists, politicians, aviation experts and enthusiasts and of course holiday makers wanting the opportunity to be part of the much hyped inaugural flight between Australia and the UK.
The Dreamliner landed in London at 5.02 am local time, as British Summer Time moved forward clocks by and hour.
QF9 took off from Perth Airport around 6.50 pm Perth time Saturday.
With 200 passengers and 16 crew, including 4 pilots, QF9 is equally the world’s longest flight – along with Doha to Auckland direct.\

The QF9 Flight tracked over the Indian Ocean to the southern tip of Sri Lanka and then India. Then across Oman, the UAE, over Iranian Airspace, then Turkey, Eastern Europe, Central Europe, Germany, Belgium, the English Channel and then to London.
The new Qantas 787 Dreamliner service is the first regular link between Australia and Europe.
Some of the passengers on the flight have agreed to share data on sleeping and activity patterns with researchers from the University of Sydney, the BBC reported.
The flight is set to be a boon for Western Australia’s tourism industry, with thousands of Australian’s to visit Perth before heading to Europe, as well as Brits heading to Perth for their first port of call in Australia.
