More than likely, you know Sneakers & Jeans better by the names of the venues they operate and odds are, you’ve enjoyed a great night out at one of them. Venues like The Flour Factory, Hadiqa, Varnish on King, Caballitos, Pirate Life Perth, Toma, Honey, and Crush.

This International Women’s Day, they’re continuing their tradition of supporting Zonta House — a charity doing amazing things, but we’ll get to that soon — by donating $1 from every beer, flute, and cocktail. Why specifically these drinks? This year, Andy Freeman, CEO of S&J, wanted to shine a spotlight on three of the behind-the-scenes leaders that have helped to drive the company to where it is today — Kahla, Katie, and Kelda.

Looking at each of their drinks of choice, Kayla’s is beer, Katie’s is a flute, and Kelda’s a cocktail.

“This is our fifth year of crafting & empowering Cocktails with a Cause, and we reckon there’s never been a better excuse to sip on a frothy beer, colourful cocktail, or luxurious flute while doing some good,” Marketing and Brand Lead, Katie Osborne, told So Perth.

Who is Zonta House?

Since 1984, Zonta House has been providing safety, essential relief, and support to women who have experienced family and domestic violence.

Through its seven service arms, Zonta House provides safety planning, risk assessment, counselling, education, coaching, advocacy, and case management to assist in the recovery of women and children.

“We wanted to find a local Perth charity dedicated solely to providing support and relief to women,” Osborne said.

“We respect and appreciate all the hard work that Zona House does and everything it stands for – and we are proud to support them each year with brand awareness and a financial donation.”

Participating Venues

All eight of S&J’s venues will be participating in this fundraising event, so no matter which of their venues you choose, you’ll be helping this cause.

So, have that business meeting over a drink; have lunch at Pirate Life with your work crew; or have drinks after work to celebrate the awesome women in your life who inspire you.

To help you out, the team at So Perth have been regulars across all the S&J’s venues for a while and here are our drink picks at each venue:

Flour Factory — This is a gin bar so you have to go for a gin cocktail. Our pick is the Strawberry Liquorice or if you want to ask for something off-menu, ask for a Gin Sour. They’ll sometimes make it for you and you can feel special knowing that not everyone gets one. Get some of their crispy potatoes to go with it and you’re all set.

Hadiqa — A middle-eastern inspired rooftop bar in the heart of the city. Start with a Watermelon Sugar High or Hadiqa Swizzle, and sit back and enjoy the sun.

Varnish on King — This one is easy, it has to be their Whisky Sour. While you’re there, make sure you also get some of their chicken wings. They’re probably the best in Perth.

Caballitos — The Tommy’s Margarita. It’s a Mexican cantina so save this one for the after-work drinks.

Pirate Life Perth — We recently did a beer collaboration with Pirate Life Perth, making what was the best beer that Perth has ever seen. There’s none left, unfortunately, but the next best would be their South Coast Pale Ale.

Toma — This is the restaurant that stands out as one of the best tomahawk steaks we’ve had. Book in to have dinner there on Wednesday night, starting with a flute of champagne or sparkling wine. Also, try the lobster mac and cheese because no meal is ever complete without mac and cheese.

Honey & Crush — Located at the rear of Pirate Life Perth, these are two venues to experience at the same time. Head there for after-work drinks and say cheers to it being hump day. At Crush, we’d recommend the S&J sparkling brut and the snapper ceviche and at Honey, the basil fawlty cocktail.
