Those of us who live on the west coast already know that the west is best; however, it’s now been made official with WA tourism businesses winning a total of 12 medals out of 25 categories at the industry’s most prestigious awards ceremony, held in Sydney last night.
The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards are essentially the Oscars of the Australian tourism industry. It’s the pinnacle of peer recognition, so for the awards gala to end with WA getting strong recognition is a massive accomplishment. It comes off the back of the state government’s support of the industry through initiatives such as the stunning Walking On a Dream marketing campaign — which has been seen as far as Times Square — encouraging people to visit our great state.
“The Walking on A Dream campaign has succeeded in capturing the imagination of people around Australia and the world, perfectly projecting the connection between our Aboriginal culture and the tourism experiences that make WA so unique” commented Tourism Minister Roger Cook.
“Have a look through WA’s award winners last night and you can see the extraordinary range of exceptional experiences on offer to the world.”
