Perth people swarmed together after a photograph of a puppy in a Perth pet store was uploaded to Facebook. The puppy was huddled in the pen that was covered in faeces. The power of social media gathered over 1000 people working together in conversation, with ideas and contacts people had to save this puppy.

Interestingly, many people commented that it was not the first time this has happened in this particular store; there were many other times animals have been found in disgusting pens such as the one this puppy was found in.

After receiving a lot of hate, the shop posted this on their Facebook page:

Not long after that was posted, they deleted their page. It doesn’t take a scientist to know, just by looking at this picture, that this pen hasn’t been changed in a while; there are two different textures of faeces shown to prove this. I don’t know about you, but it doesn’t take any training to know that a puppy, a baby or anyone, shouldn’t be living in such conditions.

Visit the Oscar’s Law page on Facebook to read all the support, ideas and help that this puppy received. Oscar’s Law advised people not to go and buy the puppy, as this would profit the pet shop and also help to keep puppy farms going.

In only a short amount of time, this puppy was rescued thanks to the amazing efforts of Perth community.

Puppies from pet shops are from puppy farms – these puppy farms are in horrific and unsanitary conditions.

DO NOT buy animals from pet shops. Unlike other states in Australia, Western Australia has yet to lay down laws regarding puppy farming.

These three videos give you an inside look at puppy farms in Australia.

Red-for-web

Red

DOB – SEPT 2014 | Male | Australian Cattle dog

Red is deaf and looking for someone to take him into their home and become his best friend. He has had training in the past so will check in with you quite regularly to see if you need him, but he is going to need an experienced owner who will continue his training and work with him loads at the beginning. Anyone who has met Red has loved him, he is so affectionate and adores cuddles. He is a very playful fella who will play tug and chase toys but won’t give them up just yet. He likes to relax in his clamshell pool here, so his dream home should have somewhere cool for him to relax on warm days.

MY ENERGY LEVEL: I will require approx. 2 x 30 minute walks daily.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I could live with children 10+ years.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS & DOGS: Possible pending meet. Red can be choosy about his dog friends.
