The life of a Fremantle Dockers supporter can be a torturous one…

As the season goes on, I fear it is only going to get worse for us. Fremantle Dockers take on Adelaide, in Adelaide, on Saturday in a game which will more than likely add another nail to Fremantle’s coffin.

freoLast week’s loss against Carlton was the lowest point I have seen Freo at in a good few years. It was blatantly obvious why the Dockers and Carlton are the bottom two teams on the ladder. Neither team looked to be of AFL standard. The game was an emotional rollercoaster; I went past the point of disappointment and into a stage of anger. Anger then combined with heartbreak after the loss of Nat Fyfe and Michael Johnson, Fyfe re-broke his leg and Johnson did a hammy/ligament damage in his knee.

I suppose the best thing to do now is look for the positives… You have to look really, really hard, but there is one or two! If Fremantle continue this form for the entire season, they will at least be able to pick up some good players in the next draft. This season will also be a good chance for the younger players (Lachie Weller, Alex Pearce, Ed Langdon, Brady Grey etc) to get some more game time and gain some more experience at AFL level.

alex bradyAdelaide Crows have been in fine form this season (which has worked out very well in my footy tipping) and I think they are just going to be too strong at Adelaide Oval on Saturday. Eddie Betts has been on fire in the forward line for the Crows, as has Tom Lynch, who has kicked 12 goals this year so far. And we cannot forget big Tex Walker who always kicks a couple of goals. Adelaide has a lot of scoring power, something that I don’t think Fremantle’s backline are going to be able to stop.

eddie bAs far as game previews go, I don’t think there is a lot of mystery surrounding what the outcome of this game will be. As much as it pains me to say it, I think we will see a similar performance from Fremantle on Saturday as we saw last week. Fremantle are just too inexperienced without players like Aaron Sandilands, Nat Fyfe, Michael Johnson and skipper David Mundy. Matty Pavlich is a lone ranger out there when it comes to senior players- which is quite funny really, I thought he would be the first to miss games due to injury!

Tipping with my head and not my heart this week, I think Adelaide Crows will beat the Dockers by 20 points.
