Who will get the four points after this nail-biter??

West Coast Eagles take on the Hawthorn Hawks at Domain Stadium on Saturday, bounce down at 5.40pm.

Both teams, who are genuine flag contenders, failed to secure a win last week so will no doubt come out fired up on Saturday to try and prevent it from happening again. In round 18 the Hawks were upset by Richmond, while the Eagles were held to a draw by Gold Coast.

If anything, last weeks results will add EVEN MORE interest to this hugely anticipated game and the outcome will give us a good indication of where these teams will finish at the end of the home and away season. West Coast are locked in second position on the ladder at the moment and if they win this weekend they can almost guarantee a top two finish. However, if the Hawks can win all of their remaining games they will still be in with a chance to finish in the top two.

WCE and the Hawks are both huge goal kicking teams so it will be up to the strength of each teams defence and midfield to make up the difference in the game.

Jarryd Roughead had a massive impact on the game last time these two teams met. West Coast defenders have been dropping like flies this season due to injury so hopefully they have a defensive plan for big Roughy. And lets not forget about Jack Gunston! He has kicked 9 goals in the last two games, 3 of those in a losing side last week. Cyril Rioli is always dangerous and could be a big help for Hawks in terms of getting the ball inside their forward 50. Screen Shot 2015-08-05 at 8.47.54 pm

As for the Eagles, they were missing golden boy Josh Kennedy last time they met the Hawks so he might be the confidence booster WCE need to get over the line.

With the likes of Elliot Yeo and Matt Priddis performing efficiently through the midfield, the Eagles may be able to lock the ball in their forward half. Injury prone defender Jeremy McGovern looks set to return for the match, which will no doubt be a relief for the WCE supporters. And as we know, playing at Domain Stadium is a game changing home ground advantage for West Coast. The crowd really gets behind the boys and I’m sure the supporters will be as loud and involved as ever.

This game is going to be an absolute belter- to say the least. Both teams have been super impressive this season and it will definitely be interesting to see which team is victorious on the night. It’s a hard one, but I’m tipping Hawks by 10 points.
