It’s summer! And summer is one of our favourite seasons because it means the weather is perfect to make the most of our pristine beaches and coastline, enjoy a tipple while watching the sunset at one of the many rooftop bars scattered across Perth, and, of course, the plethora of live sports entertainment to keep us oooing and aaahing.

To help you navigate the summer of sport across Perth, we’ve teamed up with TABtouch to compile a schedule of what’s playing and where so you don’t have to.

Cricket

Cricket is to summer what the world’s best beaches are to Perth — they just naturally go hand in hand. From The West Test, which was on at Perth Stadium this weekend just gone, to the BBL and T20, this year, we’re fortunate to have a lot of live cricket to keep us entertained.

The BBL will be in full swing throughout the summer with five games being played in Perth. The third match in T20 International Series, potentially a series decider, will also take place in mid-February with Australia taking on two-time T20 World Cup champions, West Indies.

A lot of the games are being played at Optus Stadium aka Perth Stadium — schedule below — and televised on Foxtel and Kayo Sports with some also televised on 7.

Unfortunately, the WBBL season is over with the Perth Scorchers finishing second on the ladder and falling just short of the Final in early December.

If you’re looking for a high-action game with a lot of crowd atmosphere, then you can’t go passed Perth’s two national basketball teams, the Perth Lynx and the Perth Wildcats, our most successful professional sporting team.

Fun fact — the WNBL is Australia’s longest-running elite women’s sporting competition. Add that to the passion and intensity of the game, and it makes for a great reason to tune in. There are five home games left in the season with the Perth Lynx sitting at position four on the ladder making them a strong contender for Finals.

The Perth Wildcats went through a rebuild during the off-season and have been a much better team on the court so far this season. They’re currently sitting third on the ladder with the Sydney Kings only just above them on points percentage. Ending the season with a top-two spot will show the basketball world that the team is back and ready to contend for another NBL title.
