There’s nothing like the adrenaline rush you get from being immersed in all the action at a Freo footy game. When you can don your team colours and revel in the excitement and energy of fellow fans, it’s clear to see why so many opt for the real deal over staying at home to watch the game.

In years past, going to an AFL game in Perth meant parking up at a local pub for pre-game beers before arriving at your seats mere moments before bounce down. These days, it’s all about the pre-game show and game day experience, which is now just as entertaining as the on-field spectacle.

Whether you’re a fan of the sport or not, a Freo game is an awesome excuse to hang out with friends and family, all while engulfing yourself in one of the most celebrated aspects of Australian culture. Here, the passion is palpable, the camaraderie is contagious, the atmosphere is electric, and the sense of belonging is second to none.

It all starts well before the first bounce, and Fremantle has well and truly perfected the art of revving up the crowd. Expect fire pyrotechnics to light up the field while the rock and roll guitarist stands on top of the stadium — literally — cranking We Will Rock You.

As for the action on the field, Optus Stadium is hands down the best stadium in Australia to watch the game we all love. The best part is that no matter where you sit, you’ll have a magnificent view to experience the game at its absolute fullest.

Live MCs keep the crowd buzzing with commentary and interactive games on the big screens during the quarter-time and half-time breaks. Prizes are also up for grabs in an array of games and activations.

Connection

Some of the best memories at a Freo game are made before a ball is even kicked, bounced, or hand-balled. A game is about so much more than just footy — the best things in life are mates, banter, and connection — and that’s what the fan experience at a Freo game is all about.

There’s nothing more Aussie than bonding over the footy and it’s fair to say, it’s in our blood. Going to a Freo game is about just that, connecting with family and friends. And maybe the strangers you meet in the line to the bar and on the train to the game.

What’s on offer

Whether you’re in need of some pre-game entertainment or something special for the kids, there are a range of options available before, during, or after the game. This year, the Fremantle Dockers have introduced dedicated areas such as The Ressies and 101 Oh what Fun! to maximise your game day experience.

Soak up the atmosphere and get into the spirit of the game with drink offers, giveaways, games, and live music at The Ressies — the place for a pre-game pep talk with your mates. Round up your mates for 90 minutes of jam-packed, pre-game fun and entertainment in the form of $8.00 ice-cold beers and wines*, and free snack food so you won’t be going thirsty or hungry.

Throughout the season, there’ll also be the chance to meet some of the non-playing players who occasionally drop by to say hello. It’s all happening on level five between the big sticks in the Eastern Scoreboard Terrace, so be there!

*Discounted beers and wines are available for one hour after gates open.

A Fremantle match day isn’t just a place for avid footy fans, it’s also a fantastic destination for families. If you’ve got little ones, visit the brand-new, free kids’ zone to keep them engaged throughout the match. The 101 Oh What Fun! entertainment mecca is conveniently located on level one, Lobby 101 of Optus Stadium. It opens well before the game starts and remains open until the end of the third quarter, ensuring that kids can enjoy the activities both before and during the match.

Expect all things face painting, Freo-themed colouring, giant games like Jenga and Connect Four, an airbrush tattoo station, and arcade games. Keep an eye out for the roaming performers and entertainers, who add to the vibrant atmosphere. And don’t forget to say hi to mascots Jonny, Jenny, and Dokka the Quokka.

Purple Playground (Southern Oval)

Located at the Southern Oval pre-game, the Purple Playground is a play area where kids can climb, slide, and play to their heart’s content. Each week, there’ll be a range of activities including the inflatable obstacle course, inflatable super goals, and a new specky inflatable. Relax on beanbags in the Bankwest Backyard while DJs pump out your favourite tunes, or enjoy a gamut of giant lawn games including a Freo-themed Guess Who!

Player Signing

If you’re keen to get your memorabilia signed on game day, you’ll have two chances. Before the game, players will come out to the Purple Playground, and at half-time, they’ll head up to the kids’ zone, 101 Oh What Fun!

Eats and Drinks

Over the years, the food at stadiums has evolved from the standard meat pie and burger to a wide range of places to eat and drink. We can confirm that even the fussiest of foodies will be satisfied. We recommend indulging in the salt and pepper squid, katsu chicken rice bowl, or chorizo quesadillas if you want something different.

Drinks-wise, you’re no longer limited to a single beer tap. Now you can choose between your staples and a number of beers, wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic drinks.

With easy access to food and drink pitstops, you won’t have to stray far from your seat to fuel up and you’ll be back before you know it, ensuring you don’t miss any of the on-field action.

Affordable tickets

Get in on the fun and secure your seat now. Tickets start at an affordable $39.00 with 3 Game Passes available for $79.00.

Whether you want to connect with your mates over a beer or take the family out for some fun, light-hearted entertainment, you can find it all at a Freo game. Come along and be part of the sea of purple and experience everything a Freo game day has to offer.

Getting to the game

Don’t let the thought of traffic jams and parking put you off heading to a Freo game. Your ticket comes with free public transport included, so the best way to get to the game is by train or bus. Plus, it’s a great way to get hyped up among other fans.
