The days of Monday’s being the quietest night of the week are long gone. More and more restaurants, pubs, and bars are choosing to open on a Monday. And for good reason. Here’s your guide to 50 of Perth’s best venues that are open on a Monday.

Canteen Pizza

In its brand-new riverside Applecross home, Canteen well and truly lives up to its promise of pizza, wine, and a real good time. If you haven’t already been, this foodie hotspot deserves to be at the top of your list. The bustling pizzeria has become a staple in the Italian food scene for its literally-perfect wood-fired pizzas and cruisy Mediterranean-inspired atmosphere. The space is warm and inviting with a neutral palette, cosy booths, and an alfresco setting peppered with umbrellas. Drink-wise, you’re covered, too — the wine list is extensive, while the aperitifs don’t disappoint.

Vin Populi

Vin Populi

From the ever-evolving menu etched on a central chalkboard to the excellent wine list and seasonal produce peppered across plates, Vin Populi is a shining light in the Fremantle food scene. Translated from Italian as “wine for the people,” Vin Populi opened its doors on the historic High Street in Fremantle in early 2023. Since then, it’s built an Instagram following of almost 19,000 and has quickly become a cult favourite for its dreamy aesthetic and legendary dishes. Pick a spritz or glass from the wine list which revolves around Italian varietals and small, family-run WA producers. Then pair it with olives and salumi while soaking up the bustling atmosphere of the kerbside alfresco. Or settle for the equally romantic mosaic-tiled interior, which conjures visions of traditional Italian trattorias, while remaining modern and oh-so stylish.

Pep’s Wine Bar

Perched in Peppermint Grove, Pep’s is a small neighbourhood wine bar and the product of a decade-old dream. The atmosphere of the 100-person bar is charming and relaxed, complete with exposed brick and timber finishes. The impressive — approximately 160-bottle — wine list is dominated by Australian labels which pair eloquently with the plates of antipasti on rotation. You can thank Sal’s Pasta Deli for lip-smacking Italian eats in the form of cheese, salumi, and olives. We can guarantee you’ll have no complaints.

Authentic Bites Dumpling House

If you want the inside scoop on Perth’s best dumpling hangouts, this little spot, hidden in plain sight, is among the best. Although waiting for a table at Authentic Bites is almost a given, thanks to the lines out the door, the pan-fried pork dumplings are sure to make it worth your while. You can also take a peek into the kitchen to see how these juicy parcels of goodness are created.

Emily Taylor

Emily Taylor

When it comes to Fremantle dining, the vibrant, courtyard bar and restaurant, Emily Taylor should be at the top of your foodie bucket list. The Asian fusion cult favourite was named after a ship that sailed from England to Fremantle, stopping through Asia to pick up tea, spices, and likely, opium, in the 1800s. Perched right next door to the Fremantle Markets, you can expect everything from roast duck and gin cocktails to spiced bites and aromatic fish with fresh herbs.

Ludo

Don your Sunday best and descend into the romantic world of Ludo, South Perth’s shiny new underground restaurant. Burrowed beneath a heritage-listed 1908 police station, the restaurant promises a charming French-Mediterranean culinary experience. One thing is certain, you’re sure to be swept off your feet with Chef Ludovic Mulot’s share-style banquet. It features the likes of Albany rock oysters, braised lamb shoulder cigars, baked camembert, and lobster éclair. Not to mention the casarecce ratatouille, beef bourguignon, and topped off with crème brûlée and peach tarte tatin.

The Meat & Wine Co

Honestly, we could talk about how great Meat & Wine Co is all day. It’s all in the name really — the stars of the show include the extensive wine list and, naturally, the juicy steak. The mushroom sauce is absolutely essential, alongside a big piece of Wagyu rump.

No Mafia

For a taste of southern Italy in share plate form, No Mafia embraces traditional recipes from Nonna’s cookbook and makes them their own. The Northbridge institution is known for its daily fresh pasta, paired perfectly with delicious Italian wine. Here, dishes of Sicilian green olives, pistachio pesto and stracciatella casarecce are slung from the open kitchen. Stay for dessert, because the Nutella mousse with almond crumb, and ricotta cannoli are sure to please.
