Melbourne Cup 2018 horses that are superior on wet tracks.
Wet weather is wreaking havoc in Melbourne as we head towards Race 7 at Flemington Racecourse for the Melbourne Cup.
In Australia, we aren’t accustomed to wet weather racing so who will be favoured by a wet track or rain during the race?
Despite the downpours, Flemington track manager Liam O’Keeffe, remains confident that the track will hold up for the race that stops the nation today.
Who will benefit the most from the wet track?
Punters are backing superior wet tracker in English stayer Magic Circle, who is now the $7 favourite shared with the original race favourite Yucatan.
Magic Circle has shown strong form on soft tracks from 10 starts with five wins and two placings.
Another English horse to back is Marmelo who loves the wet with a win and a place from 4 starts and is currently a $13 chance.
Caulfield Cup winner Best Solution is also a wet weather specialist, with three wins from four starts and is $13.
Avilius prospects have also increased due to experience on soft tracks, with a win and a place in 3 starts and now sitting at $14. Not to mention Avilius ran second to one of the best horse’s in the world (Cracksman) in France in the Group 2 Prix Niel at Chantilly.
Initial race favourite Yucatan has had four starts on wet tracks for only three placings.
