Famous for massive portion sizes (I’m talking unbutton your pants massive) and their stacked homemade crumpets, you’ll have to make a beeline for any spare seat here when it’s packed out, but it’s totally worth it. They don’t skimp on the coffee either, and the service is always fabulous.

2. Secret Garden Cafe & Patisserie
If not for the coffee and food, pop into Secret Garden Cafe & Patisserie for the location.
Don’t be fooled by your average-looking cafe on the outside, as soon as you step in you’ll be transported into a zen oasis with shady trees and plenty of greenery to sit amongst. They do fresh breakfast and lunch dishes along with cakes and slices complimented by Five Senses coffee.

We’re looking past the fact that The Little Banksia is technically in Kensington because it’s too good not to be included.
The all-day menu here is just superb- one bite of their fluffy, grammable buttermilk pancakes and you’ll never look back. They’ve got all the classic brekky options with a few twists, plus a seriously good fried chicken burger.

11. Our Ruby Girl
Venture just a hop and skip outside of South Perth for this absolute gem.
We absolutely heart anywhere that promotes ethical and sustainable practices, so she’s an automatic winner in our eyes. Our Ruby Girl is a Como cafe dedicated to zero waste and the best local produce, while also being an Equal Opportunity Employer and hiring people with a disability.
The interior boasts colourful, local Australian flora and warm woods throughout. The seasonal menu has so many goodies we can’t possibly pick a fave- think focaccia with native thyme, house-cured salmon, pan-fried gnocchi and juniper berry salsa.
