I wasn’t too sure about seeing this movie, but it’s now on my list of movies I tell people they have to see. On The Count Of Three is a dark comedy about two best friends who make a pact to end their lives when the day is done. But how should they spend their last 24 hours?

On The Count Of Three

Val (Jerrod Carmichael) is sick of life. He hates his job. The one person who gets him is his traumatised best friend Kevin (Christopher Abbott)who’s currently in hospital after a suicide attempt three days prior.

Val breaks Kevin out and convinces him they should both go out with a bang. In a dingy alley, with guns raised and the countdown begun, Kevin suggests they take one more day. But how should they spend that last day on earth?

Val wants to confront his abusive dad, while Kevin seeks revenge on the child psychiatrist who abused him. But when Val finally looks at his phone he sees a message that will change his mind about everything.

On The Count Of Three is a dark comedy movie that delivers an extremely clever exploration of a dark subject. It will definitely leave you pondering. The way the storied unravel will keep you glued to the screen. Carmichael and Abbot do a fantastic job of making you care about both characters. You can’t help but root for them. It was nice to see Henry Winkler in a brief appearance. Ultimately the movie reminds you to appreciate each day.
