Fringe 2022 opened on the weekend and some of you may have made it to Fringe Sunday Funday last weekend. 3,000 sqm of pink astro turf running down Northbridge, with three stages. Wow! By now you’ve probably got tickets for your usual suspects too, but what about something new this year. Fringe is all about get out of your comfort zone so here are a few things that are new this year. Fringe World 2022

First up is the range of new independent venues. If you don’t already think the guys at Fringe are phenomenal how about this. Realising that a lot of entertainment venues had been struck hard by the Covid shutdowns, they decided to reduce their own footprint and extend the show across more venues, thereby giving other businesses a chance to be a part of their success. How often would you see that in business? Never!

New venues

Aside from their own key venues of The Girls School and Pleasure Garden, some of the new venues (or at least new to being associated with Fringe from what I remember) are:

  1. Goods lift at the WA Museum. This one really intrigues me;
  2. 43 Below Bar and Restaurant;
  3. AQWA – well new to me being associated with Fringe;

  6. City of Perth Surf Life Savings Club;
  7. Clarences Company Store;
  8. Convenients;

  11. Inglewood Night Markets;

  13. Leederville Sports Club;
  14. McNess Memorial Hall;
  15. Mint Nightclub;
  16. Night Owl Studio;

  18. PS Art Space;
  19. REmedia Perth;

New shows

As always there’s a heap of brand new, never seen before shows, including new shows from Fringe favourites like Rove McManus, Briefs, and The Dumtectives.

Make sure you see at least one show that takes you out of your comfort zone.
