Gili Islands shut down for the next two weeks.

The other north of the river popular holiday destination Gili Islands in Lombok has been shut down for the next two weeks due to fears of the coronavirus.

This slice of paradise’s shutdown isn’t because the Gili Islands have confirmed cases – it’s in fact, to prevent the virus from spreading to the islands.

In a statement on antaranews.com

“We temporarily closed the entrance to Gili to ensure that the destination was free of the Coronavirus,” NTB Governor H Zulkieflimansyah said.

According to the NTB Governor, so far the three Gili areas have always been filled with both foreign and domestic tourists. In particular, foreign tourists who come through Bali.

“Because in Bali there have been found positive cases of coronavirus, we have closed all three Gili accesses,” he said.
