Latest Perth lockdown update from Mark McGowan.
After Perth jumped into a 3-day lockdown from midnight, Mark McGowan has provided a Perth Lockdown Day One update.
There has been no new local cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Perth overnight outside of the already known and confirmed close contact identified yesterday.
“Overnight, Western Australia recorded two cases of COVID-19. This includes the one local case of a woman in her 40s who was the close contact of the Victorian man that we reported yesterday. The other relates to a woman in her 50s who was a returned traveller from India, in hotel quarantine.
“This means there are no new local cases of COVID-19 other than those ones we reported yesterday.”
Contact tracing update
The contact tracing team has gone into overdrive and has now identified 337 contacts.
“In total, to date, we have identified 337 contacts, including 71 close contacts. They have all been tested or will be today. They will remain in quarantine. So far 27 close contacts have tested negative.
“There are currently 109 casual contacts with 60 of those returning a negative result so far. In addition, there are currently 157 other contacts, which are pending classification by our public health team.” said Mr McGowan.

Updates Perth COVID-19 hotspots
The WA Department of Health has released an updated COVID-19 hotspot list with public exposure sites. If you have been to one of these locations you must get tested if you were there at the same time.

Vaccination clinics are still open
Health Minister Roger Cook urged people who are showing any symptoms to be tested and reiterated vaccination clinics are continuing to operate.
“We have administered almost 90,000 vaccinations, and just yesterday, 2,223 people were vaccinated. COVID-19 vaccination is the best protection against the virus for workers and for members of the public. Therefore we encourage you to get the vaccination as soon as possible and as soon as you become eligible.” Mr Cook said.
