Perth Social Media Campaign Saves the Day

A social media crusade to find a missing Galah in Perth’s north has had a happy ending.

✖️THOR-GATE✖️ This week I spent 24hrs without this little guy after he flew away. Relieved to say he’s now home after his sporadic adventure, but I genuinely don’t think this would have been possible without the incredible kindness, support & compassion of #Perth people on Facebook. I honestly never thought I’d see him again. Prayers do get answered – I’ll be paying this miracle forward. All the tears & drama over on the blog… Link in bio x ??

Katie’s mission to find Thor with the power of social media and the generosity of the people of Perth is outlined inher inspiring blog post.

I started trawling through Facebook pages dedicated to lost animals, such as Lost and Found Pets in Perth, Pets of Perth – Lost & Found and Lost and Found Birds Perth WA… joining Facebook groups dedicated to galahs such as Pet Galahs and GALAH OWNERS ROCK (we totally do) – messaging the admins to check if I could post my pictures of Thor to their pages. Not one of them turned me down.

I received nothing but kindness and empathy in response to my messages. Within minutes of my posts going live on these pages, they were being shared into other community groups by members and admins to raise maximum awareness. I started reading other listings, some days or months and others even years old, where pet owners never gave up hope of finding their little buddies. It was bitter sweet – one minute I was hopeful, the next I was in tears.

We’re so happy you find your Thor, Katie – and well done to everyone who helped him find home.
