Must See: Fluro Yellow Lake Near Kondinin In The Wheatbelt

We seem to have no shortage of pink lakes in Western Australia, but how about a fluro yellow lake!

We seem to have no shortage of pink lakes in Western Australia, but how about a fluro yellow lake!

Well, we’ve seen pink lakes and crystal blue lakes but never have we seen a fluro yellow lake in Western Australia.

Where is the yellow lake?

The yellow lake is a lake near Kondinin in WA’s Wheatbelt region.

It doesn’t have an official name, but it is known as Statues Lake as there is a statue on there by a local farmer and artist Kelly Browning.

It’s part of the Kondinin Art Trail which is made up with a number of statues and pieces by Kelly.

Visitors wishing to view the sculptures and lake may pull-up at the parking bay adjacent and view the sculptures from the roadside.

The green/yellow colour comes from algae and only occurs this time of year.

Recently a passer-by reported to Australia’s Golden Outback on Friday that the lake was icy blue.

Apparently, the lake isn’t always yellow though and has been changing colour a lot recently.

Either way, this lake in Kondidin is definitely something special to see and could provide quite the unique snap with the constant color changes..

How to get to Kondinin?

Approximately 3 hours east of Perth, Kondidin is on the way to Wave Rock, so it’s a great place to stop along the way if you’re doing a road trip to Hyden or even onwards to Esperance.
