A new tourism initiative will see day trips to Margaret River a reality.
A new tourism adventure has taken off in Western Australia, offering return day trips from Perth to Margaret River in a seaplane.
Swan River Seaplanes can take up to 12 guests at a time on the flights, at low altitude before allowing for passengers to take in WA’s amazing coastal scenery before landing in Margaret River at the airstrip where they can disembark on a tour of wineries and attractions, before returning to Perth and all in a day.

Premier and Tourism Minister Colin Barnett said the unique attraction was a welcome addition to Perth’s rapidly growing list of tourism products.
What to Expect from a Swan River Seaplanes Day Tour
While the price of $795 per person won’t be for everyone the tour has now connected Perth to one of WA’s most popular tourist destinations like never before.
Guests will be picked up from their hotel lobby, flying out from the Swan River to begin a low-level flight on the way to Margaret River. Guest will take in views of the cityscape and the captivating Western Australian coastline, making the flight an amazing experience in itself.
Following the flight along the Western Australian coastline, Top Drop Tours will introduce guests to the wines that have made Margaret River one of the world’s most exciting and premium wine region.
Guest will get a real taste of WA’s south-west by visiting three hand-picked wineries whilst enjoying guided tastings of award winning wines and of course be treated to a delicious winery lunch.
After the completion of the 5 hour Margaret River experience, guests will make their way back to Perth city and finish the day by touching down in the Swan River in the afternoon.
Day Tour schedule times:
8.30am – Pick up from hotel.
9.00am – Ready to depart Swan River via Queen Street Jetty, South Perth.
10.00am – Arrive at the Margaret River airstrip. Be welcomed by our winery tour operators.
3.00pm – Finish tour of wineries. Depart Margaret River by seaplane.
4.00pm – Arrive back at the Queen Street Jetty, South Perth.
4.30pm – Return to hotel.
