A landmark development on the western side of Elizabeth Quay will feature the visionary design of internationally acclaimed, Western Australian architect Kerry Hill.

Australia’s only high-rise public art museum and viewing area, with expansive views across Perth and out to Rottnest Island, is among the unique elements of ‘EQ West’, which will become one of the city’s most important tourist destinations.

Two major buildings and a substantial all weather public plaza will be developed on the western area of Elizabeth Quay, currently known as Sites 2 and 3.

A 180 metre building comprising residential apartments and topped by the art museum and viewing area will occupy the site closest to the river, while the adjoining site will be home to an 88.5 metre building featuring a hotel and serviced apartments.

A large undercover area that will be available all year round for arts, cultural and entertainment events will connect the two buildings and create a substantial sheltered gateway through the western side of Elizabeth Quay.

A range of restaurants and bars, alfresco dining, health and fitness centres, plus retail outlets will complete the development and bring vibrancy, excitement and activity to Elizabeth Quay.

The Kerry Hill design was selected by independent architectural experts from the entries in an international competition to create the best development for the site.

The $385 million development will commence construction in 2017 and be completed at the end of 2019.

The development is being undertaken by CA & Associates with the support of Local Development Advisor, the Fini Group.

CA & Associates Principal Victor Goh said EQ West would be an iconic and timeless building for this prominent and high profile site.

“I’m delighted that EQ West by Kerry Hill will showcase the very best in international architecture and create a landmark that Perth will be proud of,” said Mr Goh.

“There is no other development like this in Australia and the art museum and viewing gallery will be a must visit attraction for anyone coming to the city centre,” said Mr Fini.

The residential building will contain approximately 300 apartments, ranging from one to three bedrooms, and penthouses. People interested in finding out more about the development can register at http://www.elizabethquaywest.com.au/
