In April, taxi drivers in Perth, took to the streets in protest against the on-demand ride share service, Uber. What they had hoped to achieve backfired as the general public came out in support of Uber. Plus those people who didn’t know who Uber were soon found out. The Taxi industry handed Uber a tone of free publicity, which Uber jumped on – providing new users with free rides.

It was also reported by Uber that they received their biggest increase in new users signs ups because of the Taxi strike, other states with Uber were probably wondering how they could get their Taxi services to strike as well.
