So Perth’s guide to best eats & drinks in Mount Lawley.

When it comes to Perth dining precincts, we know you’ll agree that Mount Lawley is a serious contender for one of the best.

Whether you’re looking for relaxed bars, up-market eateries, or somewhere in between, you’re totally covered. Your only real issue? Choosing from one of these excellent venues.

Here is our guide to the best eats & drinks in Mount Lawley.

Clarences Company Store

When one of Perth’s original small bars closed down on Beaufort Street, there was a collective groan throughout the city.

So cue immense delight when Clarences Company Store reopened its doors as an iconic Mount Lawley location with a makeover.

It has a real New Orleans French Quarter vibe to it, with biodynamic wines, cocktails, and a foodie forward menu that has us super excited.

Solo Pasta

It might sound a bit kitschy or for the ‘gram, but don’t let that sway you from trying Solo Pasta, Mount Lawley’s pasta joint that lets you order it by the metre.

Choose your flavour: classic, beetroot or spinach, your length (a standard bowl is 3 metres) and then your sauces. Are you a traditional Bolognese kinda person, or do you crave the creamy goodness of a butternut pumpkin dish?

Whatever your taste is, you can craft the perfect bowl here – and all for a reasonable price.

Side Door BBQ

After travelling to America’s deep south and falling in love with their smokey barbecue meats, the inspiration for Side Door BBQ was born.

Since 2016, this southern-style eatery has been slinging out some seriously delightful brisket, cornbread, mac and cheese, and sausage – plus a whole heap of other tasty dishes. For those in the know, it’s best to get a platter full of different things to try (and if you order too much you can take away for the ultimate next day leftovers).

Don’t forgo their house made sauces either, they really hit home.

Eda Izakaya

Irasshaimase. The welcomes are nothing but warm when you step into Mount Lawley’s Eda Izakaya, a modern family-friendly Japanese restaurant.

The flavours are contemporary and exciting: the likes of apple miso, vinocotto teriyaki, and soy vinaigrette. Their menu is a celebration of Japan in Australia, heroing local produce like Margaret River wagyu, Shark Bay scallops and more with a share plate style dining experience.

Meet and Bun

Oh baby, baby, we love a dreamy burger – and Meet and Bun are one of the best in town.

Classic favourites like their cheeseburger or Ari Gold (for those who’d like some fresh salad in their burger) are joined on the menu by some fun twists for those who enjoy colouring outside the lines a bit.

For those with a sweet tooth, don’t forget to order a towering milkshake or a boat of fries to accompany your meal (note – you will be so full after if you do.)

Le Rebelle

Is this one of Perth’s finest restaurants? Absolutely.

Le Rebelle is Parisian-chic with a New York edge to it. It’s a three-tiered joint that boasts bistro European food that is both elevated and generous without sacrificing quality or flavour. Whether you pop in for a cheeky tipple (their wine list is phenomenal) and a crab toast bite, or you snuggle in for a long, lazy meal full of decadence – the friendly staff here will guarantee you a good time.

This is the kind of neighbourhood venue we all wish we had within walking distance of our homes.

Mary Street Bakery

Locally owned empires don’t get more impressive than what the team behind Mary Street Bakery have achieved.

Not only are the bread and baked goods of high quality (and stocked in many cafes, restaurants and stores), but there are now 6 different venues dotted around hotspots in Perth. Call us sentimental, but the original in Mount Lawley (on Mary Street of course) holds a particularly special place in our heart. Bring your doggo and enjoy the café strip dining, or get amongst the chatter inside where all the hustle and bustle takes place.

The menu is ever-changing, and the cabinet up top is stocked full of house goodies to enjoy with your coffee.

Mack Daddy’s New York Slice

They’ve made a name for themselves by having the biggest and cheesiest pizzas in town – but thankfully the taste backs it up too.

Mack Daddy’s New York Slice has won the hearts of ‘za lovers in Mount Lawley with their 28-inch pies, perfect for sharing with friends, family, or catering for large groups. Now located where Five Bar was previously, the venue offers plenty of room to relax and feast away, but there’s also the option to drop in and grab a slice or two to take with you.

The choice is yours.

Soho Lane

Conceptualized while living in New York, the owners of Soho Lane have fused together Australian and American coffee cultures together into one cute café in Mount Lawley.

The décor is just stunning, and the food is fresh, vibrant, and honest with coffee by Micrology Coffee Roasters. For those who like to find cafes to work from, this is a great spot to bring your laptop and while away the day while trying some of their great brunch dishes in tandem (the falafel with charred greens and the fried chicken burger are two particularly worthy mentions).

The Modern Eatery

Casual dining but delicious flavours: that is the recipe for success at The Modern Eatery.

They’ve made a name for themselves thanks to their mastery of aburi sushi (it’s really, really amazing) but there are some other stellar eats you need to try too. The creamy croquettes with crab, the wagyu beef bao, and their crunchy salad – these have all won our hearts.

Miss Potz

Hidden away in Beaux Lane, Miss Potz is a little treasure trove of South-East Asian delights.

Taiwanese fried popcorn chicken, soft shell crab papaya salad, and their slow-cooked lamb shank massaman curry are just three of many dishes that have created a fan base for this restaurant. The menu is designed to share, and perfect to wash down with a frosty beer.

Si Paradiso

If you haven’t been to Si Paradiso, have you really lived?

Yes, it has a party reputation but even the biggest introverts can appreciate just how great the food and drinks are here. The menu is pretty stellar if we’re being honest and includes flavour bomb after flavour bomb. Burrata with persimmon, lobster tramezzini, crystal crab on crespelle, and a rigatoni with vodka sauce that includes gochujang for a nice unique twist.

Oh and don’t forget their pizza, which is light, fluffy and baked to perfection on dough that’s naturally fermented for 96 hours before use.

Very, very good stuff.
