The weather is hotting up, and with the summer sunshine comes the resurgence of the Sunday session. We’ve rounded up some of the city’s best, so bring your friends, partner, or family along and show them what Perth has to offer.
Sundays Around The World at The Cottesloe Beach Hotel
The Cottesloe Beach Hotel has brought its Sundays Around The World back for another year. The six-part series takes inspiration from some of the best beach clubs in the world, bringing in a guest DJ to spin themed tunes and serving up delectable food and drinks from the club’s home country.
The series kicked off on November 20th with Havana Nights: Escape to Cuba and runs periodically throughout December, January, and February.
On December 4th, The Beach Club will be transporting you to the Cyclades with an afternoon in Santorini, while the 18th will see you on the colourful Amalfi Coast. In January, guests will be transported to the likes of St Tropez and Venice Beach, wrapping up summer with A Night In Ibiza on February 5th.
Entry is free, so it’s best to head down early to avoid the queues.
Sail Away Sundays on The Raft
Sail away the Sunday blues with a bottomless lunch or a sunset session at Perth’s only floating bar and eatery, The Raft.
Bottomless lunch is a sit-down, shared Italian affair – think stracciatella starters and crispy chicken cotoletta – with three accompanying drinks menus to choose from; Ponza, Capri, or Sicily.
The Ponza menu is a no-frills experience focussing more on food than cocktails and champagne, with mocktails and soft drinks the beverages du jour. Capri is more decadent with Aperol spritz pitchers, prosecco, wine, cider, and beer. But Sicily is the most luxurious of all, with everything on the Capri menu plus a few premium spritzes.
Sessions run at 11.00 am, 12.00 pm, and 1.00 pm, and all tickets include a return trip to and from The Raft. They also grant entry into the afternoon Sunday session with DJ and accompanying saxophonist.
If you’d rather skip the lunch and save your session for the DJ set, The Raft also offers tickets for just the Sunset Session.
Naber + IIII
Naber + IIII caters to two kinds of Sunday session-goers. Split into different restaurants, the venue offers up two completely different weekend experiences.
The laid-back IIII is an all-day, indoor-outdoor space that transforms into a disco party come sundown. Enjoy the last of the day’s rays with the Sunday-only margarita and fried chicken menu – the perfect combo of salty and sour – and a boogie.
If you’re looking for a more refined Sunday session, book a table at Naber. Here, the kitchen team highlights local producers’ food and flavours through small creative dishes.
Blues and Roots at Long Neck Brewery
Nestled on the Swan River in East Perth, Long Neck Brewery offers one of Perth’s best Sunday sessions and stunning views of the river and city. On any Sunday through summer, you can enjoy those views to the sounds of some of Western Australia’s best blues and roots music.
The acoustic sets run from 2.30 pm – 5.30pm, followed by a DJ set that runs late into the night. Spend the evening with a house-brewed Pilsner, dry cider, IPA, lager, or ale in hand, sharing a cheese board, smoked brisket pizza, or classic nuts and olives, too.
Si Paradiso
Located on bustling Beaufort Street, Si Paradiso is part restaurant, part party-central.
Beyond the 70’s Italo-style main bar, you’ll find a large, amphitheatre-style courtyard complete with a stage, concrete pillars, and limoncello-coloured umbrellas. Find a table outside and enjoy some traditional Italian pizzas, tapas (oysters start from as little as $4.00 each), and drinks before the night really kicks off. Then, welcome the evening with the resident DJ and a few moves.
Keep an eye on Si Paradiso’s socials and website for details of any upcoming events.
The Boat
Wind down the weekend with $10.00 cocktails from 6.00 pm every Sunday at The Boat, enjoying the smooth sounds of its resident DJ until late. It’s one of Perth’s best Sunday sessions in the northern reaches.
Soak in the rays and enjoy sweeping views of the marina and Indian Ocean with a nautical-inspired cocktail in hand – a vodka, black raspberry, vanilla, pineapple, and citrus Hello Sailor, or stonefruit, riesling, and citrus Davey Jones’ Locker, perhaps?
Food-wise, there is an abundance of seafood on offer. Opt for classic fish & chips, soft fish tacos, chilli mussels, or squid rings. For a little bit of everything, go with the seafood platter. The restaurant also has burgers, pasta, steak, and a chicken parmigiana for non-seafood eaters.
Ocean Beach Hotel
Considered one of WA’s living landmarks, the Ocean Beach Hotel is famous for its Sunday sessions. From 5.00 pm, revel in a cocktail, beer, wine, or bubbles, and enjoy the colourful sunset, the gently rolling Indian Ocean, and sweeping views of Cottesloe Beach beyond the bi-fold windows.
If Sunday sessions aren’t your thing, pop down for a $25.00 Sunday roast. They taste even better when you don’t have to cook them yourself.
