But this time we are here to talk about a gin that’s not so local. Aviation Gin has been making headlines all around the world and not just because it’s a top drop but because the gin has been made famous by none other than Ryan Reynolds.

History of Aviation Gin
Stemming from Portland, Oregon in the U.S a once little known gin company became a globally recognised brand when Hollywood actor, producer, comedic celeb, Ryan Reynolds took an ownership stake in the company.
The gin was named after a classic cocktail known as the Aviation. The Aviation was created in the early twentieth century by well-known bartender Hugo Ensslin, and published by him in 1916.
Aviation Gin was founded in 2006 by Christian Krogstad and Ryan Magarian in 2006 with Ryan Reynolds acquiring ownership in the company in 2018.

Since then Aviation Gin has no doubt been filling up your social feeds with Ryan Reynolds marketing antics.
But despite all the shenanigans from Ryan Reynolds, those who have tried Aviation Gin will know that it is actually a great gin.
Aviation Gin tasting notes
Aviation Gin is distilled using a proprietary maceration recipe of 8 distinct botanicals, to create a medley of soft flavour. Cardamom, coriander, French lavender, anise seed, sarsaparilla juniper, and two variations of orange peel are suspended in a pure, neutral grain spirit for 18 hours before the distillation process begins.

Aviation Gin has been hard to come by at times in Perth and Australia in general, however now Aviation is available for purchase in Australia via Dan Murphy’s, BoozeBud, First Choice Liquor, Vintage Cellars, and all good independents.
