I used to live in Victoria Park and I have to say, I still miss “the strip”.
Recently, date night for the hubby (Adam) and I was held at our favourite (old school) BBQ house – Good One BBQ.
We started the meal with some crispy spring rolls and they hit the spot. Very tasty and perfectly balanced. Lovingly served with plum sauce, I was a happy camper.
I’m certainly more of a noodle girl and Adam likes his rice, however we both share a love for roast and bbq combinations. So, instead of arguing over what accompaniment should be ordered with our BBQ combination, we each ordered our own favourites.
I went for crispy roast pork and roast duck with noodle soup. Yum yum yum. In hindsight, I should have asked to have the pork on the side as my crackling ended up soggy. Luckily I shovelled it down as quick as I could do minimise sogginess. I slurped and sucked and crunched and was delighted by my old friend at our favourite little indulgence from a time long ago.
Adam went for the Char Siu and Crispy Roast Pork, with a mountain of rice. It was devoured pretty quickly so I imagine it hit the button for him too.
We both like hits of chilli, so our dishes we heavily spiked with their housemade chilli oil. Not the strongest I’ve had (Hong Kong BBQ House in Northbridge as the best) but was still tasty enough.
