Since moving to Perth I’ve been continuously blown away by the amount of amazing bloggers who call our fair city home.

To celebrate the variety and talent of these wonderful people I decided to start up a series showcasing Perth’s bloggers, #meetthebloggers. Deciding on who to feature first was hard, should the blogger be beauty, fashion, lifestyle, parenting…the list goes on. But then it dawned on me, everybody loves breakfast, and so I started pinging a few emails back and forth with Liz who writes The breakfast confidential.

The Breakfast Confidential - Coffee

Your blog The breakfast confidential showcases the best places to have breakfast across our beautiful city, what made you start the blog and how has it changed since it begun?
I started the blog back in 2007 after realising you could never find reviews about breakfast. I was always going out for breakfast and trying to find out anything was almost impossible, especially if the cafe didn’t have a website! Urbanspoon wasn’t even around back then either!
I started off with a simple blog on a blogging site called Blogspot, then a few years later I moved to a proper website and rebranded as The Breakfast Confidential. Back when I started I didn’t even take photos of the food and I didn’t own an iPhone! Now I cover Perth food news & events, chef interviews and of course reviews of breakfast. WITH photos!
What makes the perfect breakfast for you?
The perfect breakfast for me would be where my coffee order is taken first up so I can decide on what I am eating with some caffeine running through my veins. My poached eggs have to be runny and my husband has to be sitting across from me firing witty comments about our breakfast (which I then use in the reviews hehehe).

I’m sure it’ll be hard to choose, but where’s your favourite place to get breakfast in Perth? (why)
mmm that is such a tough question as I have so many favourites – all for different reasons! The place I go back to again and again (and I rarely go back somewhere twice as I have so many places on my list to visit) is To the Woods cafe in Bassendean. It’s a quaint little cafe on Old Perth Road and they do amazing coffee and breakfast. The staff are super friendly every single time – I am pretty much a regular there now!
Away from the huge variety of incredible restaurants and cafes, what do you love about Perth?

This will probably sound weird, but I love our fresh, clean air.  It’s that moment after you have been travelling overseas and you walk out of the airport and breath in our fresh air. It’s like “ahhhhh I’m home”. I get the same thing at the beach We’re so lucky to live in this city with beautiful beaches and clean fresh air!

The Perth creative community is so strong and supportive, who are your favourite perth creatives / bloggers?

We are lucky that the majority of the food blogging community in Perth is quite close knit! One of my favourite bloggers is Cynthia who writes The Food Pornographer – what she has achieved as a food blogger is incredible. Ai-Ling Truong is another inspiration in the foodie community –  she created the Food Truck Rumble event, which I think has been the catalyst for Perth really embracing the food truck culture. I’m also a fan of Chomp Chomp, Foodie Cravings, Perth Munchkin and The Queen of Bad Timing. It’s always fun seeing them at events and talking all things food!
