Something Old To Something New.
Out with the old and in with the redeveloped is now the current trend. After the recent announcement of the East Perth Power Station redevelopment, Fremantle will see the Old Courthouse brought back to life as it’s transformed into a boutique hotel and bar.
The redevelopment is reported to be a $5 million facelift to the former courthouse and police station buildings on Henderson Street and provides some more welcomed good news for the hospitality industry and of course the punters as we look to a world post-COVID-19.
Thursday 15th June 1899, The West Australian reported the opening of the new courthouse in Fremantle “the completed structure is a decided ornament to Henderson Street” We’re not sure we will be referred to as an ornament again, but we will restore this building to its former glory and in the process develop a courthouse you will want to appear in!
The Bar & Restaurant
What has been revealed so far is that one of the historic courtrooms will be transformed into a bar, leading out to a huge pavilion and garden area with room for 450 punters (seems hard to fathom such a gathering right now) as you will be sure to enjoy great bar food and a first-rate drinks line-up, featuring, of course, beers from the Little Creatures range including a special recipe just for the venue.
The second courtroom will be developed into a restaurant, anticipated to seat approximately 100 people.
The Old Courthouse Fremantle is set to open early 2021.
