Brazilian Beach Carnaval is back for its 2nd year.

More than a touch of Brazil will take over Scarborough Beach this Saturday, March 7 with the Brazilian Beach Carnaval.

In its 2nd year with punters can expect a colourful, cultural take-over of Scarborough Beach and Amphitheatre with this FREE community event which will see over 10,000 people descend on Scarborough to celebrates the true beauty of the Brazilian culture. Bringing together delectable South American food and drinks, vibrant music, traditional performances and live entertainment. Strap on your dancing shoes and get ready to party the night away with Perth’s Brazilian community.

Brazilian Beach Carnaval is a celebration for the WA Brazilian and Latino community located in their spiritual home – Scarborough Beach, while providing an opportunity to share their incredible culture with the people of Perth. The Brazilian Beach Carnaval aims to create a vibrant community space on Scarborough Beach for the local Brazilian community to meet, connect, eat, share and celebrate the art and culture of Carnaval.… literally a small taste of Rio de Janeiro.

By day, Scarborough’s celebration will see friends and families gather on the beach to enjoy traditional BBQs and bites from the regions, sip on mouth-watering beverages, lounge in sunchairs, or try your hand (and feet) at traditional beach games, all to the soundtrack of hottest Brazilian tunes, courtesy of the epic house DJ!

Festivities will kick off at 2pm with plenty of activities for everyone, including kids games by the team at Sambozzy and the famous Kids Costume Parade. There will be special Samba workshops held by the super talented Sambrazil, prizes, competitions, tonnes of performances and the ever popular Sambozzy Samba dancers delivering the authentic Brazilian flare!

In a Brazilian Beach Carnaval first, and after months of rehearsals and workshops- the afternoon will ignite with a FREE Street Parade lead by Mestre Nunzio Moskito. Dancing its way from Brighton Reserve, past the famous Scarborough Pool and La Capanina before pouring out into the amphitheatre, we invite all members of the community to participate! Perth’s biggest Brazilian drumming groups will unite to create sights and sounds that are guaranteed to have Scarborough abuzz and set the rhythm to the route! To join in the Parade fun, follow this link to register and collect your wristband on the day from the Brazilian Beach Carnaval Info Desk.

The food options are plenty and completely authentic, with crowd favourites including Churras, Tapi Truck, Sampas Pastel, Rancho Latino, Latina WA, and Rio40 making an appearance. There will also be heaps of desert options, so make sure you save room for something sweet from Dopamine or pick up an ice cream from Antica Gelato. The drinks will be flowing all day with options like Crush Juice, Froth Coffee and Carnaval’s famous Beach Bar by The Sandbar.

By night, the amphitheatre will transform into a mini Carnaval with Capoeira, live bands, traditional performances, carnival drummers and samba dancers, in the most spectacular colour and costumes.
