Enjoy a special screening of the first blockbuster film of the latest Star Wars trilogy at Riverside Theatre this April, with John Williams’ epic score performed live on stage by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

Seeing WASO at the movies combines the comfort of cinema viewing with the edge-of-your-seat experience of seeing an orchestra live. Many renowned films use a live symphony orchestra to play on the original soundtrack recordings, with John Williams composing some of the greatest of all time. You may recognise the themes of classic films like Jaws, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, among many others, most of which John Williams has won several awards for, including 26 Grammys, 5 Oscars, 7 BAFTAs, 3 Emmys and 4 Golden Globes. In an impressive showcase of talent, conductor Jen Winley leads 90 musicians for over two hours, as the film is brought to life with an explosion of brass and percussion.

As the musicians play to set the scene for all the action on screen, the film unfolds in high definition. Kylo Ren, a dark warrior aligned with the tyrannical First Order rises to overthrow the New Republic. Rey, a desert scavenger, and Finn, an ex-stormtrooper, find themselves teaming up with Han Solo and Chewbacca to return vital information to the Resistance.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens in Concert is the supercharged concert experience you’ve been looking for, perfect for date night or a family outing, but one question remains — do you watch the movie, or do you watch the musicians?

When and where?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens in Concert will play at The Riverside Theatre, located inside the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, and will open its doors for two evenings on Friday, April 5th and Saturday, April 6th 2024, with a matinee show on Saturday.
